This problem bugged me for several months.
Garage door opener wont close even though nothing in way.
Hopefully after you read this you won t have the same problem in the future.
If your garage door opens ok but won t close then it s possible the safety reversing sensors are not correctly aligned.
Then try closing the door manually.
If your garage door won t close all the way the problem could be due to a blocked photo eye.
Step 4 turn the close force dial in small increments until the garage door reaches the ground when you hit the close button on the remote.
The majority of garage doors manufactured since the early 1990s are equipped with this safety feature.
The sensors may not be aligned properly.
It could be that they are just barely aligned but the vibration from closing causes them to intermittently break the beam.
Don t just assume that if the path is clear that the sensors are ok.
Genie openers apply only limited force to the garage door during closing.
The door won t close all the way if the bolt is too high on the track.
Clutter or obstructions that block the sensor are the first problems to look for if your door won t close or in extreme cases open at all.
The photo eye components consist of two pieces that align face to face across each side of the garage door roughly four feet above the ground.
Something blocking the door.
First check the sensor lights.
Could also try disconnecting the door from the chain should be a pull cord that allows this.
One or more of these reasons is likely responsible for your garage door closing partially but not all the way.
